The baby blanket. This is the second part of the cuddle blanket I posted about earlier. A few more photos this time 🙂 So, I realized that I didn’t have any quilt or blanket binding so I had to improvise. Also, I didn’t really want to use batting because I didn’t want to make it super thick. Instead, I used fusible fleece. Since this is a small cuddle blanket and not a huge quilt I figured I could get away with these. I’m not sure how they would work on a full quilt. So first I cut the backing and interfacing to the size of the quilted top. Then, I fused the fleece (interfacing) to the quilted top. In my head this seemed like it would help with the longevity of the blanket. After that put the backing and quilted top Right Sides Together and pin.

A cuddle blanket for my daughter.

I’ve heard the same question for a while from different moms and dads. “What do I do with my babies old clothes?” Why make them into a wonderful cuddle blanket of course! Some clothes you can donate, sure. However, babies are messy and clothes get stained in places or stretched out a bit. Don’t throw them out! When kids start spending the night places and spending weekends with extended family, they need something familiar. Imagine Linus from Charlie Brown. What’s more familiar than a blanket made of clothes that they are probably all too familiar with.

Not to mention when the little angels get older and go off to college or what not…. Well…. Then mommy (and/or daddy) have a comfort blanket 🙂 Here is the start of my little girls cuddle blanket.
