Spunky Adventures! Tales of Moving, Projects, and Fitness… OH MY!

Pcs season is coming up. Just 2 short months until we move from Hawaii to the east coast. Am I stressing? Haha, you bet your bottom I am! So much to do! I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that there’s much to be done or the fact that the military won’t let us schedule ANYTHING until 30 days before we leave. You would think they would let you at least have things scheduled and tickets bought 2 months in advance. 😦 Then they tell me I need to relax… Psh!

So aside from the major project that my husband and I are currently finishing (more on that later) I have been doing a couple little projects here an there to use up some of the wood we can’t take with us.

First up is a very awesome door plaque chalkboard style! Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the finished product due to it being a gift to a very awesome couple 🙂 However I did take some how to photos.

This is what the pallet board piece looked like before I fixed it.

I love to encourage my little girl to draw and be creative as much as possible.
I looked into those paper and markers that only work with each other….wow they would get expensive. Plus they’re about the size of printer paper. That’s not enough space for a little girl to let her imagination run wild! She needs a BIG canvas.
So a couple of weeks ago my husband came home with this dingy crayon covered coffee table. Yuck! I will admit, it sat in the garage for a while before I realized what I would use it for.

After a day just hanging around the house I looked over at her sidewalk chalk and remembered how much she loves to decorate our driveway. Then it just hit me! Chalkboard table! What’s better is it’s something that she can grow with. I know she’s a toddler now, but when she’s in school this table would be perfect for notes, homework, reminders, the possibilities are endless!
Not to mention it will work with almost any decor depending on how you paint it.

This was my first attempt at a wallet/clutch.

I wanted to post this simply to show that practice makes perfect (even though I still am not amazing at clutches). Your first project may not be perfect but don’t let that get you down. I may not be that great at these but my daughters wardrobe is the envy of lots of mom’s I’ve talked to around where I live. The tutorial for the clutch came from HERE. Of course I made a few modifications…. well, mainly just that I didn’t use a patchwork front because I wanted to keep it simple for a first one.Image
