We just moved from a small 995 sq ft second floor apartment into a 1000 sq ft house. Still a rental but no more behind the wall neighbors! The square-footage may not seem like that big of a jump, except when you consider that the Β extra building out back with electric and the garage do not count as “living space” and thus is not counted into the square footage, it’s actually a pretty big place…. well…. big for me. Three bedrooms, a small but open kitchen, living room, den, and small “mud” area going out to the half an acre of fenced in back yard. The front yard is also partially fenced aside from one corner that we will probably get to fixing since it only needs two squares of chain-link fence and a gate to attach to the other gate.
Now I’m not bragging by any means when I say all that. This is still a rental and there’s still only so much we can do but we do have SIGNIFICANTLY more options here than at the old apartment.

Around Christmas time I had finally finished knitting a toy hammock for my little girls room. The thing was great for the first few months then just started stretching and loosing its shape and didn’t like to hold the stuffed animal army well. This could have partially been because I may have mucked up the knitting a bit at some point but I’m not 100% sure on that. Anyways, I was entirely too lazy bogged down with a couple different things to sit down and knit another one which I may or may not have to do again when/if it got stretched out so I just decided to make one out of fabric.
My husband loves his strawberry candies. This isn’t to mention the box of Salt Water Taffy I recently got for him on a little family vacation while he was in training.
I’m not sure about some of you, but I find the colorfulness of candy to be extremely visually appealing and just makes a space friendly. However, aside from a collection of jars that I hadn’t taken goo-gone to yet, I had nowhere to display this candy and I really didn’t want to go with the generic bowl. Thus my little lizard jar with feet was born!
Pcs season is coming up. Just 2 short months until we move from Hawaii to the east coast. Am I stressing? Haha, you bet your bottom I am! So much to do! I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that there’s much to be done or the fact that the military won’t let us schedule ANYTHING until 30 days before we leave. You would think they would let you at least have things scheduled and tickets bought 2 months in advance. π¦ Then they tell me I need to relax… Psh!
So aside from the major project that my husband and I are currently finishing (more on that later) I have been doing a couple little projects here an there to use up some of the wood we can’t take with us.
First up is a very awesome door plaque chalkboard style! Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the finished product due to it being a gift to a very awesome couple π However I did take some how to photos.
This is what the pallet board piece looked like before I fixed it.
