Around Christmas time I had finally finished knitting a toy hammock for my little girls room. The thing was great for the first few months then just started stretching and loosing its shape and didn’t like to hold the stuffed animal army well. This could have partially been because I may have mucked up the knitting a bit at some point but I’m not 100% sure on that. Anyways, I was entirely too lazy bogged down with a couple different things to sit down and knit another one which I may or may not have to do again when/if it got stretched out so I just decided to make one out of fabric.

When I started this website I posted photo’s of my craft space. This was back when we lived in Hawaii and I had more room. You can find that post here .
Now that we’re in a new place, and have been for a while, I get to have a different corner. Since this new apartment is significantly smaller (we’re talking 1600sq ft down to 995sq ft) I had to get a little creative with everything and even *gasp* downsize! Back in Hawaii I had an entire chest dedicated to fabric. It was a nice little chest and we still have it, however now it’s being used as part of the office . Which just means it has our printer sitting on it and it’s located beside the computer and it’s now being used to store a large amount of my husbands military gear.
Saddened by my sudden realization of how little storage space this small apartment has, I surfed the web and came across this gem of a post at MaryJanes and Galoshes. This was perfect! Continue reading

I’m slowly……very slowly…..redoing the living room starting with our big ugly brown couch.
It has no back cushion, just big pillows… It was designed that way. I hate it.

My plan is to turn the pillows into large throw pillows and make my own back cushion. To be honest, I would love to recover the entire couch with a better fabric. However, this couch is big and it just do happens to be a sleeper sofa too. So, that being said, my hubby and I decided it would be cheaper and less of a headache to just make a super comfortable back cushion and then cover it with a nice couch cover. Then toss in loads of throw pillows because you can almost never have enough pillows… Well, you can, but still, pillows are amazing.

Here is the start of my project.
I found the how-to from http://www.marthastewart.com. Its her tailored pillows. 🙂

The process of making my daughter a pair of pants that actually fit her.

She’s hitting a growth spurt.

I actually got the basic idea of how to from a different blog but I’m not 100% sure as to which. With this particular design I’m modifying that simple design and making them a little more tailored. My plan is to make them a toddler version of yoga pants. Like the ones I purchased that you see in the photo. If you can tell, my little sweetie pie has outgrown them. 😛

Those purchased pants…. $10… Making them myself? FREE! Because I already have the fabric. 🙂
