IT’S FINALLY FINISHED!
The project my husband and I have been working on for so long! Most of the time consuming part was hand planning all the boards. That took forever!
So here it is in all of its glory!
My husband and I have started making pallet furniture and saving money in the process 🙂
So far (given we had no tools whatsoever) have plunked down a couple hundred to build up a woodworking shop. It was my mothers day present 😀 Usually I’m all about saving money but all this pays for itself with the money we will be saving from not buying furniture every time I want to change the house or build an amazing loft bed/playhouse for my little girl when she’s older. I’ve been browsing on annawhite.com. While some of those projects I can do with pallet wood, others I won’t. Gotta be realistic in my abilities right now. When I was young my Pap Pap had a little workshop and I remember going in there and helping him. Best memories ever.
Anyways! Pallet furniture!
A few weeks ago we finished our very first ever table. Excuse how rough it looks, like I said, very first table.
I’ve been slacking on here recently. However, there is a perfectly legitimate reason! I promise.
There is quite a bit going on in this house recently. Lots of projects that take more than just a couple of days to finish. Whats more is these particular project require the littlest lady of the house to be taking a nap which she has been refusing to do as of late.
What are these projects you might ask? Well here’s some photo’s of what’s going on so far as well as what I intend to do with the messes 😛
Wooden Pallets:
I love to encourage my little girl to draw and be creative as much as possible.
I looked into those paper and markers that only work with each other….wow they would get expensive. Plus they’re about the size of printer paper. That’s not enough space for a little girl to let her imagination run wild! She needs a BIG canvas.
So a couple of weeks ago my husband came home with this dingy crayon covered coffee table. Yuck! I will admit, it sat in the garage for a while before I realized what I would use it for.
After a day just hanging around the house I looked over at her sidewalk chalk and remembered how much she loves to decorate our driveway. Then it just hit me! Chalkboard table! What’s better is it’s something that she can grow with. I know she’s a toddler now, but when she’s in school this table would be perfect for notes, homework, reminders, the possibilities are endless!
Not to mention it will work with almost any decor depending on how you paint it.
