Spunky Adventures! Tales of Moving, Projects, and Fitness… OH MY!

I have a toddler.
My toddler is very energetic and sometimes a little destructive.
I recently purchased my beautiful girl some crayons and two (2) coloring books.
Anyone else see where this is going?

She broke all of her crayons and tore off most of the paper. The madness ensues for 4 days. Stepping on, vacuuming up, finding in odd places, chasing down a chihuahua to get them out of his mouth, chasing down the little one to keep her from drawing on furniture.
I had the Sparta quote running through my mind. Except I was the messenger and my little one was the spartan.
Me – “This is Madness!”
Little One – “THIS!  IS!  TODDLERHOOD!!”

Or maybe I’ve just had a one too many Sugar Free Amps, or lack of sugar-free amps. I tend to get weird without my daily dose.

So any-who….

I got tired of the nice little broken pieces of crayon and as I was picking them up to toss them a nice little lightbulb came on. Why not just melt them down into cool multicolored “biscuits”? This way she can’t break them, I’m not stepping on tiny bits, and she wont throw a fit with me throwing them out. EUREKA!

Since my husband has been away for training for a while I’ve been procrastinating on house stuff slowly meandering my way through projects. I have this horrible habit of spending hours gawking through projects on Ravelry and CraftGawker. Then I’ll get a couple I like and head on over to Jo-Ann Fabrics or Michaels. Now I have a huge list of projects and I’m ever so slowly getting them done. Kind of.

It’s my little girls birthday coming up and it seems like a toddler bike (pink flyer) just isn’t quite enough. Plus she’s going through another little growth spurt and needs a couple new tops and pants to go with them… This is just a top though. Pants to come soon 🙂

I was browsing through burdastyle.com when I can across this adorable and simple little jumper. It was perfect! Something I could throw together with a pair of leggings and a long sleeved shirt if necessary. So adorable. Whats better is that the directions and pattern are so simple.

I did modify mine just a bit.
For the bottom hem I used a double needle. It just makes things look a little neater I think. Then once the top part of the jumper was sewn and turned the correct way and all the seams were pushed out neatly I pressed and hemmed not even 1/4 inch in to keep the fabric from rolling. Makes it look super neat 🙂

This is how my little jumper came out.

The process of making my daughter a pair of pants that actually fit her.

She’s hitting a growth spurt.

I actually got the basic idea of how to from a different blog but I’m not 100% sure as to which. With this particular design I’m modifying that simple design and making them a little more tailored. My plan is to make them a toddler version of yoga pants. Like the ones I purchased that you see in the photo. If you can tell, my little sweetie pie has outgrown them. 😛

Those purchased pants…. $10… Making them myself? FREE! Because I already have the fabric. 🙂
